Madam : HOW TO USE IT
MADAM is an Android application that requires installation in the smartphone of the users, primarily motorists. It has two modes: Driving Mode and Normal Mode. Normal Mode performs the normal operations of the smartphone and it is activated if Driving Mode is disabled. The other mode, which is Driving Mode, can be enabled and disabled manually by tapping the corresponding button in the application's Start-up Screen. It can also be activated automatically if change in acceleration is detected based on smartphone's accelerometer reading; but, this function should be enabled.
This Android application is aware of incoming calls and SMS received by the user's smartphone. This capability of the application lets MADAM to block calls from contacts not in the priority list. To let this function be effective, MADAM allows users to choose their priority contacts from contact list or contacts suggested by the application. In generating suggested priority contacts as suggested by the application, C4.5 algorithm is trained using the initial priority list selected by the users and records from call history and SMS thread. Calls from priority contacts notify the users through the use of Text-to-Speech; also, this functionality is used in reading all received SMS from all contacts but this functionality should be enabled also. On the other hand, the use of Speech-to-Text lets the application to understand voice commands received by the smartphone's microphone. These voice commands can be recited to accept or decline incoming call from priority contacts same with to reply or not the received SMS. If the users decided to reply received SMS, they can reply by choosing a pre-defined SMS that they set. The application also features launching of music and navigation application which are selected by the user. Operations like adding, editing, and removing (as supported) in Priority Contacts, Pre-defined SMS, Music, and Navigation Applications List are reflected to database.
